New Bedford's Nature/Nurture have released EP002. Crotchthrottle is an enigma wrapped in a mystery stuffed in a taco, and deep fried in inscrutability. Details on the precise band line-up and history are hazy, but Jeremy Withers (of The Inclined is somehow involved. Some have said that this is his attempt to cash in on the recent abstract noise-drone boy-band trend, while others claim he is a mere studio lackey controlled by the shadowy Heiemeier Axia. Whatever the facts may be, the music is clearly the product of a deranged mind (or possibly a malevolent hive-mind) bent on hypnotizing the youth of America with repetitive "motorik" rhythms, constantly shifting drones, odd song structures and studio-manipulated melodies.
"Shut Up and Play" is the The Jesse Minute's latest studio release featuring a new rhythm section and renewed overall dynamic. The band underwent renovations following their June tour last summer and have been firing on all cylinders ever since. This release includes songs written over the past six months, plus new takes on unreleased favorites from their 2006 demo. Recorded and produced by Richard Marr at Galaxy Park Studios in Allston Rock City. This is female fronted pop punk that's ablaze with rock, indie and straight up punk overtones....always memorable and never predictable.
"Crooked" is the Wolverton Brothers' newest release with seven songs clocking in at about 35 minutes, and marks a re-collaboration with record producer, Sir John Curley. This is a collection of songs about the extra-legal world around you, abuse of progeny, one about happiness, all finished with a special recipe. Its guitar rock, and it is more ectomorph than ever, showing off their gifts without any adornment. The Wolverton's unique sound continues to charge ahead, and for the better.
The musical quintet known as Ming Toro rises up from the industrial-waste-ridden flood plains of Pawtucket, RI, to smash you right in the adam's apple. Their special brand of seriously noisy indie rock is sure to cut through even the thickest tinnitus and tickle the shadows of the inner ear. Fans of garage rock, new wave, and certain sub-species of postpunk will not be disappointed! Co-release with Bucket Republic.
The full length debut from the Rhode Island-based trio incoporates all three members musical ideas and sound. Recorded at Summing Point in Newport, RI by Scott Rancourt in the winter of 2009-10, the album offers an eclectic look into the bands unique style of stoner/math rock. Influences include Fugazi, Radiohead, Jawbox, and Silkworm.
This happened on March 1, 2010 at AS220 in Providence RI. Recorded, mixed and mastered by the band. This first
live album release includes songs from both "Do or Die" and the forthcoming July 2010 release "Shut Up and Play". The band puts on a great live show and this recording captures that energy.
Recorded Live at The Common Pub on Robert Downey Jr's Birthday (April 4th) in 2009. Hands down the greatest live recording since Sammy Davis Jr's The Candyman Live at The Stardust 1966. In this masterpiece are included previously unreleased tracks and a couple of covers (Jawbreaker's Bad Scene Everybody's Fault & Alkaline Trio's My Friend Peter). Almost everything written here is a lie.
Recorded in 2005 at Satellite Studios w/ Emerson Torrey Sr and originally released in 2006 on Red Tide Records. Many months were spent in a musty basement that smelled like dryer sheets and beer...and they were finally able to give birth to 20,000 Leagues Under the Scene. Lots of relationships were added and dropped during the making of this record. Influences include Jawbreaker, Lagwagon, Decendents, and Against Me.

The second EP release from New Bedford's Nature/Nurture. Now expanded from a trio to a quartet, N/N stowed away in the Wamsutta Mills over the winter months in their freezing space and tracked the songs you hear on this EP. The shorter, noisier sound of EP001 has given way to longer, more nuanced songs with softer dynamics and a few keyboards added to the familiar wall of distorted guitars, bass, and drums. The entire mess was mixed and mastered into shape by Brian Cass of Overclock, Inc. Featuring re-recorded versions of 006 (from EP001) and 008 (from the now unavailable NBRock.net compilation) and 4 brand new songs.
'Red' signals the return of Mark Cutler as a solo artist (with the help of many gifted friends including co-producer Emerson Torrey). A gifted guitarist and award-winning singer/songwriter from Providence, Rhode Island, Mark continues to add unique entries to the great American songbook and leads a variety of roots-rock bands. He spins tales about men who drink alone or hover over a lover. He sings stories about ghosts, midget wrestlers, walking in the woods, walking in the night, being remembered, just being alive and getting used to this. Like the character Travis Bickle, Mark will 'play anytime and anywhere' and sometimes he’ll show up alone with his guitar and sing for you whether you like it or not.

This release collects fifteen tracks recorded from 1991-1993. Backwash formed from the ashes of Collision Service and Two Guys And Another Guy in 1988. The band recorded a 7" record in 1991 as well as their only album, the 6-song Approaching Joe's Mangos, which was released in 1993. The band broke up in 1994 when bassist George Sullivan left the band. The other three members - Jack McKenna, Jon Jones, and Pete Burr - added a new bass player soon after and formed Mother Jefferson. The members continue to be active in various Providence-based musical projects.
This is debut album of Jen Turrell's new band recorded over a 5 year period spanning 2 pregnancies and a number of appearances on albums with other hot rocking indie combos (Boyracer, Cheap Red, Possum Moods etc). At first, we all thought it sounded like the Breeders. We have since been told it sounds like "Boyracer with a chick singer". More pronouced, raw and raucous than Jen's solo material the songs are thick with emotion and dynamic. The band also includes Annah Winfield, (ex-Rabbit In Red), on bass and Stewart Anderson, (Boyracer, etc) on drums. "Jen's best album ever". Split cd release with 555 Recordings.
Six Star General releases their fifth album of all new material and seventh album overall. Recorded over two days in November with Scott Rancourt (The Masons, The diePods) at Summing Point Studios in Newport, half of the album had been recorded back in August but the masters went missing. Rather than focus on retrieving on the lost recordings, the band decided to re-record all the songs. Eleven tracks, including one instrumental and a cover of Cat Power's "Metal Heart". Influences include The Minutemen, Naked Raygun and Dinosaur Jr.
Blasting through 10 songs in under 20 minutes, Cincinnati's The Spectacular Fantastic return from the outer edge of obscurity to bring listeners another hefty dose of twangy power pop goodness. In this rapid fire assult of sugar coated ear candy, Mike Detmer takes listeners on a whirlwind journey exploring lost love, sunshine daydreams, and all points in between. Returning to his roots, this album finds Detmer striking a delicate balance between down-home acoustic romps and fuzzed out pop psychedelia. Distributed online by Cincinnati's Ionik Recordings, this album will be limited to a pressing of 75 silkscreened copies by 75orLess Records.
"Live" is the long awaited new CD from Rhode Island's legendary punk band "Two Guys and Another Guy". This exiting 16 track release showcases 9 of their classic songs with a remarkably high quality recording produced by Stumpy (Neutral Nation) and Rockin' Rob George. Melodic riffs from guitar legend Jon Jones demonstrate his miraculous and long awaited return to form. With these songs, the band continues to build on their historic sound - they have been compared to the Replacements and Husker Du. The band's "Dual Les Paul" attack has been described as "aggressive but not assaulting". Two Guys and Another Guy continue to stand amongst their peers - Neutral Nation, Rash of Stabbings, That'll Learn Ya, the Schemers, and the Jungle Dogs as one of Rhody's all time favorite bands. With this new CD, "TGAAG" is back on the scene...look for an upcoming studio release by Two Guys and Another Guy next year including the first new material from the band in 20 years.
Fort Thunder Flashback gets away from the band's math and krautrock influences and back to it's noise and experimental roots, a mix of instrumental improv with sound collages and noise. Previous releases have been described as "screeching down the track like a broken locomotive with their ugly riffs and diseased vocals, kind of like if Lemmy and Leslie West had gotten together and taken some really bad shit. Genius sound deconstruction, a reckless train of musical styles with flayed and reverb guitar noise, plunging off a cliff into a pit of explosives." Featuring members of Temple Of Bon Matin and humans who have played with Arthur Doyle, members of the Stooges, Acid Mothers Temple, and Sun Ra.
New Bedford-based Mike Mountain is a five piece post-everything rock n' roll band. The sound is composed of a blend of different rock styles and very abstract lyricism. Included in the six recorded tracks are unique and time sensitive descriptions of current events and moods that are captured with sounds and words. To get the most out of your Mike Mountain experience, pay very close attention and listen repeatedly until you can no longer tolerate the songs (if you ever could). Thank you for being a dedicated explorer of the musical pulse of the underworld. Influences include Mars, DNA, Landed, Faust, The Fall, Pil, Captain Beefheart, and the Jesus Lizard.
Six Star General releases their first live album! These 26 tracks were recorded over the course of five shows throughout late 2008 and the spring of 2009. After multiple mixing delays and a successful four month battle for control of the original masters, Scott Rancourt from Summing Point studios stepped in to sort out the recordings and complete the project.

Hula Hoop where spawned from the same Ohio River water as Rodan, Palace Bros, Evergreen, King Kong and other Louisville contemporaries, but with a decidedly less obvious rock-ist stance due to their combined influences. After dozens of releases and two well received Peel sessions, bassist Rachel Grimes left to pursue the musical collective "Rachel's" full time. This album contains songs written & recorded after her departure with the powerhouse trio of Eric Stoess (Hula Boy), Chuck Geisler and Stephen "Monkey Boy" Jones. A stellar collection of tasty Americana pop morsels mined from the musical coal of Echo & the Bunnymen, New Zealand pop/rock, Television, & The Fall. Beautiful letter-pressed cover by Hound Dog Press. Edition of 150 copies split between 75orLess and 555 Records. All Vinyl LP's also contains free download code.
Connecticut's most released band, with LP's on Full Circle Records and Retch Records U.K., plus 7 inch singles released on Dionysus Records. This release features the band's first 3 piece line up. This sub pop-punk-psychedelic inspired collection has tracks from the band's Dionysus and Retch Records releases, their Tombstone Records single, plus compilation and unreleased tracks.
The first solo release from Kyle Jackson, the guitarist for Six Star General. Influences include Ween, Trans Am, Daft Punk, Pavement, The Beach Boys, and Sebadoh.
Ideal barroom rock and indie-soaked pop, influenced by The Replacements, Dinosaur Jr, The Smithereens, and Pavement. Teetering between just too hip and just plain odd, von Doom, is the retro-hyper-active quartet.
The Jesse Minute finally releases a full length album, a split release with Red Tide Records, after surviving on their demo alone for over 2 years. In that time they have played over 100 local and regional shows, including 2008 & 2009 tours. The 12 songs on "DO or DIE" were culled from a recent 25 song, 3 day DIY recording session and represents their wild variety of rock and punk influences.
Guitarist and vocalist Eric Fontana releases "Studies in R + B" with his quartet The Ultra Fine Reducers, which features bassist Thomas Brinkley, Keith Munslow on keys, drummer Vinnie Pagano and Eric Bloom on trumpet. A longtime fixture on the Providence music scene and musical theater for Trinity Rep and Perishable Theater, Eric was a member of Mother Jefferson in the late nineties and a current member of Hope Anchor. His solo work has previously appeared on the 75orLess 2006 PARL 2XCD Benefit compilation. "Studies in R + B" is a musical road trip of various eras, geographical locations and styles of American Rhythm and Blues music, as seen through the eyes of a modern indie pop-rock mutt. Influences include Paul Westerberg, Jack White, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Otis Redding, Etta James, Buddy Guy, and Big Mama Thorton.

Coma Coma's "Live at Jakes" is filled with the raw, yet complex sound that one has come to expect when listening to this band. A quick follow up to their debut EP, the improvised guitar solos meld seamlessly with a pulsating rhythm section that explores their sonic landscape, while the organic vocals give the songs direction. Recorded live at the late, lamented Providence venue in December 2008 by Jeff Bright from Sambello Studios.
Two-and-a-half minutes of frentic synth noise, back with a thick, fuzzed out slab of shoegazer drone-pop. Farfisa, harmonium, and mellotron shimmer and swirl around a raucous mess of drum loops and guitar, smothering a couple pure pop gems in a sea of distortion. Michael Bond and Matt Dennewitz fulfill their usual duties in this electronic duo, with GD Mills from Fuck Knights filling in on drums. Self-recorded in a bedroom and practice space in Ukrainian Village, Chicago. The seven inch single will be available in late March from the Data Was Lost label. This CD version contains two bonus remixes of tracks from "Songs About Music" by You, You're Awesome and Superaction80.
The Propellers took to recording in the humid New England summer of 2008, sculpting their sophomore art rock record, The Propellers 2. The album covers a variety of themes: a lullaby for a petulant child, revenge murder on a underground train, friendship, love, loss, and a celebration of life's foibles. Recorded in a Rhode Island basement by the bassist, and mixed by the drummer, the propellers 2 is truly a DIY effort. Total budget: $0.00. Total recording cost: $0:00
Their sophomore release is the album they've been long threatening to record: a towering mountain of melody and pop production that was both lament and celebration - and is as infectious as listening to a box of old 8-tracks in your Uncle Don's basement. Recorded primarily by x-Hot Rod Circuit Michael Poorman at Strangeways Recording in Providence, R.I., Minky also teamed up with pal Ken Stringfellow (Posies, Big Star) in Paris, France at Le Domicile Studio, and with Chris Manning (Jellyfish, Guster) out at Salamander Sound in sunny California. This refined line-up features Mike Musburger (Posies, Fastbacks) on drums. These dashing gentlemen have taken sticky sweet rock and roll and turned it into a daily anthem for the soul.
An instrumental trio born in Fall River, and raised in the Wamsutta Mills of New Bedford. Sounds like: Shellac, Minus the Bear, Isis and At the Drive In having a bar fight, minus all the yelling.
Six Star General releases their first collection of new material in fifteen months. Nate Laban is best known for his work with the punk rock band The Frosting. The album is a collection of 16 songs ranging from piano confessionals to organ-driven murder ballads to fleshed out demo's of songs originally made for The Frosting. Recorded August through October of 2008 in his pieced together home studio, all instruments on the album were recorded and performed by Nate with the exception of one track. This album is a look into another side of Nate's writing that people are not as familiar with.
The Inclined is an electro synth-pop band based in Providence, RI. It's two members, Bill Paukert (vocals, synths, programming, drums) and Jeremy Withers (bass, guitar, fuzz) have been playing together since 2000. After a number of lineup changes, the pair decided to change their basic indie-rock approach to accommodate their growing electro-pop leanings. Having now embraced the studio as an instrument and compositional tool, they have distilled their love of bass fuzz and synchronized arpeggiation into their first full album, The First Day of Many.
No Qualms features 43 bands, the majority of which are from Rhode Island, the homebase of 75orLess. Other performers on this compilation are from such diverse locations as Wisconsin, New Jersey, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Chicago, New Hampshire, Los Angeles, Connecticut, New Hampshire and France.
New Bedford, Massachusetts's The Diggers show incredible range on their self-titled debut album. From 16 plus minute epics to groove laden jams to I just can't contain myself rockandrolla, The Diggers have something to prove with their left field way of thinking. Recorded by themselves in the depths of the Wamsutta Mill, The Diggers are finally taking their (mostly) instrumental madness to the masses. Influences include: Led Zeppelin, An Albatross, Neil Young, Pink Floyd
Originally released in May 2008 on Brother and Brother Records, Knives With Journalism was recorded by Alex Seiz in a barn in New Jersey. Knives with Journalism is the second record by noise-shambolic-satanic-sludgecore, pop-gloom-shoegaze, psych-garage three-piece Alien Father. Ten tracks of brooding keyboards, zambonian synths, hyperdelic guitars, and drums. Also features vocals. Recorded in quasi-monorific HI-FI on computers. Guest starring a dad, features no hidden tracks.
Coma Coma's "Does Your Remote Control Have A Remote Control?". Their debut release, a co-release with Redtide Records, consists of 6 songs over 26 minutes and was recorded by the trio at Satellite Studios with veteran rocker Emerson Torrey (The Raindogs, The Schemers, The Dino Club) as engineer. The end result is six creative and energetic tracks fueled by large quantities of cheap beer. Some influences include the Flaming Lips, Pavement, Fugazi, and the Super Furry Animals.
Nathan Xander's Swiftly, Surely, a 7-song mini LP was recorded in one day and originally released in August 2007 on the artist's own imprint aww... rats. Based out of Chicago, he has toured extensively since the release. Swiftly, Surely bounces back and forth between mellow country, folk and heavier slow core, drawing inspiration from My Morning Jacket, Townes Van Zandt, Kris Kristofferson, and Neil Young.
Recorded between April 1996 and May 1998 on a Tascam 4 track cassette and forgotten about, the five members of Güntaard have never all been in the same room at the same time but were all fueled by the same things- bong hits, failed relationships, and unemployment. Using traditional instruments such as guitars, bass, and keyboards as well as drum machines, screwdrivers on metal tables, tape loops, television sets, electronic toys with dying batteries, they recorded over 100 songs in this two year period. Rhubard in the Hoo-Ha is a collection of songs that are heavy on the drum machines and distorted vocals. For fans of Ween, Trollin Withdrawal and Butthole Surfers.
The second co-release with Kentucky's Ionik Recordings, MW Ensemble is a project from northern Kentucky, featuring Nancy Wheeler, Jeremy Edison, and Mike Winters. This, their first release, is an EP entitled "Apartment or Nepal" to be followed by a full length in 2009. The music can be described as a "bit lounge" and appealing to fans of Dirty Three and American Analog Set. While Ionik will handle the digital distribution, 75orLess will be releasing the compact disc that includes an exclusive live track.
Kill Kill Kill is the solo project of Los Angeles-based musician Eric Stiner. A member of Boy/Girl, Kill Kill Kill will release 12 albums in 12 months from June 2008-June 2009. All of the releases have an environmentally conscience theme and the releases are made with recyclable materials. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Nature Conservancy in support of the mission behind the Kyoto Protocol. Designing and crafting his own "homemade" effects pedals and modified guitars and amplifiers, they mix the psychedelia of Acid Mothers Temple and the riff laden moxie of the Melvins. Not quite an EP, the five tracks contain over forty three minutes of music including an exclusive remix unavailable anywhere else.

cholo, from Brooklyn NY, mix, garage, jazz-punk and melodic pop creating indie rock that is earnest, fresh and provacative. Paolo DeGregorio from buzz band magazine The Deli describes them as "...the best post-Pixies band I've ever heard". Felipe named the band in ode to his Peruvian roots but also from the identity crisis faced by first generation Latino-Americans. However, with members from Ireland, Guam, and exotic New Jersey, cholo pays tribute to the outsider perspective. In their sophomore release, UNLIMITED NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS, they are steps closer to authenticating a sound that will have people on the outside looking in.
A high energy blast of detailed interaction and momentum from a quartet of hardcore free-jazz veterans featuring Philadelphia-based reedist and Cecil Taylor alumni Elliott Levin, notorious Flying Luttenbachers drummer Weasel Walter, bassist Damon Smith and pianist Scott R. Looney. A wide variety of abstract forms are explored on this release, from bizarre pointillism-plus-poetry to full-on raging torrents of sound and fury. This heavy, crystal-clear recording will appeal to old-school free music buffs as well as listeners looking for truly something different delivered with intensity, skill and wildness. A must for fans of ESP-Disk/BYG/FMP Records, Albert Ayler, Ornette Coleman, Peter Brotzmann, et al.

Heavily influenced by 60's and 70's pop, modern electronic music, and the blue-collar melancholy of Green Bay's industrial surroundings, Turn Blue is a band more interested in conveying emotion through complex melody and deceptively minimal soundscapes than conveying a meaning or message through played-out lyrical ideas. Recorded with Sean Lynch at Muzzle Recording Co. in Olneyville, the tongue-firmly-in-cheek titled "quiet/loud/repeat" packs ten songs and assorted weird noises into just over 36 minutes. Think of a room of drunken fools trying to mix Crazy Horse with Mogwai and you'd be pretty close to describing it. More pop and less aggressive than their previous two releases. For fans of Built to Spill, Silkworm, Neil Young, Slint, etc, etc.
In 2008, Suicide Bill and The Liquors' "A Little Bit....Burned?" is definitely worth five bucks. Never critically acclaimed, but often ashamed, the boys sometimes rock and sometimes acoustic through Bill's best collection of songs. Think part 80's Minneapolis, part 70's stadium, and part modern-day-quiet-complaining. $5.00= 16 growing older, hate the day-job, lonely, unsure anthems. A Suicidally Powerful Equation.....
Inspired by Quint's rendition of 'Spanish Ladies' in the film Jaws, Sharks Come Cruisin' combines traditional songs of sailing, whaling, drinking and sinking with drums, bass, fiddle, banjo, accordion, guitar and lots of hollering. On Four Years Before the Mast, SCC takes amplifies the shanties of New England by mixing their own influences like Flogging Molly, The Pogues, and Against Me!
Alfred Wakes Up In Strange Rooms And Considers The World
Don't Come Back From The Moon
By The Time I Get To Tucson
Their fourth release, recorded by Darren Burke over a two month period in Hyde Park, MA at Makeshift Studios. For this release, leader Anthony Loffredio's enlists longtime Barn Burning member James Toomey (drums) and some new members, Mike Samos (lap steel and bass), and Morgan Eve Swain (violin). Some of the songs are the full band while other are more stripped down with just violin or lapsteel. These songs are a reflection of how Barn Burning operates these days, either as a full band, a duo, or just Anthony playing solo. Alt-country indie rock and atmospheric soundscapes mixed with folk and post-rock for fans of My Morning Jacket, Jay Farrar, Joy Division and Sun Kil Moon.
Pure power pop for aging effete moderns, rock oracle von Doom erupts onto the 21st century's late first decade rock scene with sonic aplomb. Their debut disc, aptly titled The Universe is a mix of aesthetics, Latin roots, the state of the art, and psychedelic effrontery. Navigating the treacherous void surrounding us all, von Doom's requiem for humanity floats above the fray, all the while forging a path straight through your ear-fields.
The Spectacular Fantastic is a pop leaning rock band from the outskirts of Cincinnati. The duo, featuring multi-instrumentalists' Mike Detmer and Jonathan Williams, return with their new EP Consume. Co-released with Cincinnati's Ionik Recordings, the current EP will also be complimented by a free online only 'Reward' EP. Having made some of their back catalog available for free downloads, the band believes that allowing the listener to decide what to pay for music is the wave of the future for independent artists. For fans of The Beatles, Neil Young, and Sebadoh.
Fashion Failures began in 2004 out of Pawtucket, RI and still call the city home . Loud, fiery guitar rock, drunken blues and big sing-a-long choruses with an entertaining stage show to match. Influenced by various bands including The Stooges, Chuck Berry, The Clash, Kinks, The Real Kids and Motorhead.
Baylies Band come out swinging on "Risibility and Discourse" starting with a nearly 17 minute Krautrock instrumental dipped in Japanese noise rock with a pinch of the Swans. That is followed by a mixed bag of 8 songs, some telling stories and rocking like the Melvins, others with a Captain Beefheart-flair, with John Cage and King Crimson nodding their approval. Features members of Temple Of Bon Matin, world criss-crossing noise and jazz rock pioneers and Mike
Mountain's band.

Rock/Pop/Psych songs were conceived from bouts of rain-drenched insomnia and often fueled by an infamous, government created strain of contraband from British Columbia (The Propellers neither condone or discourage use of said contraband). The Propellers cover a wide range of themes; Lullabies for the adorable yet petulant child, Homesickness, a Rooftop Swan Song, and a Love Song of Extraterrestrial Proportions. Fans of Wilco, Randy Newman, The Flaming Lips, Tom Waits, and Pink Floyd will delight in this ear candy.
Their second full length release of 2007 is a collection of new songs, covers, a remix, unreleased four track recordings and live radio show performances. Features a remix from The Masons' Kraig Jordan, self-recorded four track recordings, a performance on WBSR Radio, and covers of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Butthole Surfers and Jonathan Richmond.
Third recording from Chris Evil & the Taints. Recorded by Tono Ramirez and Greg Furious in two days while Chris and Eric got drunk. Garage pop punk-core for people that like Black Flag, the New Bomb Turks, the Oblivians, and stuff like that.
Baylies Band - Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things
"One More Than Seventy Four" features music from twenty four Rhode Island bands, many of the songs previously unreleased. Silkscreened jackets are available in gold, silver, black and dark blue inks.
Providence RI's own folk troubadour Ben Pilgrim releases his first EP on 75orLess. The well crafted songs run the gamut from personal to political, from humorous to deadly serious, with Ben joined on several tracks by regular side-kick Mary Bee and his band, The Free Union.
Debut EP recorded in Providence, RI during 2006 and 2007, Forest is a collection of experimental home recordings and conversations. Featuring a wide array of instruments and electronics, Forest has something for everyone. This record is energetic, harsh, and cuddly. Influences include The Swirlies, Thinking Fellers Union Local 282, The Boredoms, and Need New Body.
This feature length film, which opens on September 7, 2007, documents the long history of Rocky Point Park, an amusement park and shore dinner hall situated along the coast of the Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island. The soundtrack features 15 tracks by Johnny Carlevale performed by his many musical projects - His Band Of All Stars, The Rollin' Pins, The Acoustic Trio, The Big Kahunays, and The Bomboleros! Carlevale takes a folk approach to fusing the sounds of rhythm & blues, jazz, swing, and country blues.
Six Star General's third full length release in 18 months, "Already On One" has them returning to Plan Of A Boy Studio in Providence to record with The Masons' Kraig Jordan. Clocking in at 26 minutes, it's their longest release to date and includes a pair of instrumentals. Influences include Mudhoney, Spacemen 3, Silkworm.
Recorded at both Machines With Magnets and a former karate dojo in East Providence, the Cold War's shimmering, guitar driven debut is reminiscent of peak period Echo and the Bunnymen, Chameleons UK, and Head on the Door-era Cure.
After a decade spent as ghost detainees incarcerated at an undisclosed detention camp, the legendary and incendiary Followers return with an album hailed as "Un-American" and labeled "Subversive" by the Department of Homeland Security and the hegemonic Christian Coalition. Long feared confiscated or deleted under the auspices of the inestimable Patriot Act, the insurrectionary and vitriolic album dubbed 'Secret Handshake' finally makes its commercial debut. Admittedly an intractable reaction to animal vivisection, authoritarianism, and rampant fascism in America, and inspired to a great extent by psychotropic and flammable solvents, the release of the mercurial and vehement 10 track recording promises to deliver The Followers back into CIA hands to be remanded in Eastern Europe for another decade.
Recorded and mixed in two marathon 8 hour sessions with engineer Jason Macierowski, "A Collection of Songs..." revisits the mammoth crescendos and washed out space guitar of their previous release and expands them, taking tense quiet melodies and then throwing them at a brick wall of guitar shrapnel and shattered drum sticks. For fans of Built to Spill, Shellac, the Who, Hum, Mogwai, etc.
THE 'MERICANS are a rhode island band and their new record WHERE ALL DEAD LEAVES GO is the full-band follow-up to the 2006 all acoustic release 'MERICAN RECORDINGS.
WHERE ALL DEAD LEAVES GO was recorded by the band and mixed by PETE DONNELLY of the FIGGS and is full of spacy rootsy moody textural sounds reminiscent of PURPLE IVY SHADOWS, the group that 'MERICANS singer/guitarist CHRIS DALTRY fronted from 1991-2002.
THE 'MERICANS mostly draw influence from the psychedelic folk-rock bands of the 1960's like THE BYRDS and CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL, as well as more current artists like RYAN ADAMS, BEACHWOOD SPARKS, the shins, THE FEELIES, the jayhawks THE PERNICE BROTHERS, daniel lanois + WILCO.

Kaiser Cartel is a two-piece band out of Brooklyn, New York. Smart Boy-Girl lyrics, brilliant harmonies with catchy choruses and great hooks. This EP was recorded live at Blue Ribbon Sound on May 22, 2007. Peter, Paul & Mary minus Peter plus The Breeders.
These recordings were recently discovered and transferred to cd. For fans of Ween, Trollin Withdrawal and Butthole Surfers.
The F.I.D.'s first release since 1997 has arrived. Cry Me a Rivet spans the entire 12 year history of Rhode Island's least talented yet most beloved band. Mark, Dave, Drummer John, Nason, and sometimes Mike try their best to remind us that they actually can play their instruments and remember ALL the words (despite what you might think if you've seen them live).
After almost 7 years The Masons return with Let You Down Easy, the follow up to the critically acclaimed Change Me Back. The Kraig Jordan-helmed recording project delivers 14 new songs you swear you've heard before, but never did, until now. Although the 4-track cassette recorder and milk crate microphone stand have been replaced by a custom built converted garage recording studio, the instant excitement of Change Me Back flourishes on Let You Down Easy. Think Neil Young, The Beatles, Velvet Underground, Ween and you're getting close. Let You Down Easy features appearances by Don Sanders (Medicine Ball), Dave Narcizo (Throwing Muses), Jeffrey Underhill (Velvet Crush), Eric Fontana, Sarah Lupo, and other Rhode Island musicians.
A PASSING FEELING's debut LP and follow-up to the critically acclaimed self-titled EP (2005, 75 or Less) finds the band breaking new ground, with a grittier, darker, and more developed version of the hyper-pop sound they created one year ago. This is a record of unmatched life and intensity; Every track finds the band breathing and breaking down, spitting out an original combination of pop hooks and raucous pounding drums and guitars. This record was made to be chanted in basements across America. The lyrics reflect the dirtier parts of early twenties life - drinking, driving, bliss, heartache and everything else in between. Produced by Mark Ospovat (Wooden Wand, Parts and Labor, Meneguar).
From the slow settling dust of PURPLE IVY SHADOWS comes THE 'MERICANS, a Rhode island band based around the songs of CHRIS DALTRY. Their first record, 'MERICAN RECORDINGS, was recorded at home, on borrowed recording equipment on the west side of Providence. The sounds of this first record are the foundation of what daltry's songs are all about - rootsy folky moody pop songs about another way of seeing things. Includes appearances by JOEL THIBODEAU of DEATH VESSEL and STRING BUILDER, former PURPLE IVY SHADOWS member WILL RICE and MARGIE WIENK on upright bass. Fans of GILLIAN WELCH, Son Volt, VARNALINE, THE FEELIES, CCR, PURPLE IVY SHADOWS, Neko Case and Johnny Cash's AMERICAN RECORDINGS, step right up.
In 2005, Providence, RI's Lame Drivers secretly released The Captain Amazing EP - five hook-filled and fuzzed out songs conceived in a New Jersey
basement, developed in Providence, and messily birthed onto a handful of CD-Rs. Then they went on hiatus. Now they're back with this reissue of their debut EP plus five bonus tracks. Lame Drivers make DIY punk-informed pop rock inspired by the unpredictable eclecticism of freeform radio. Such classic, vital tunes are hard to come by these days. Not far removed from GBV, Replacements, Hüsker Dü, The Zeros, Elvis Costello, The Capstan Shafts.
It is 2006, and Cowboy Steve K returns to the scene with a deeper understanding of life's blessings, fragilities and wonders. Once an 80's rock devotee, he now distills his musings through the rubric of country song. Some say his songs are like a bar room sing-along without the chorus. A critic once penned that Cowboy Steve K reminded him of a drunk version of Rain Man. These wide-ranging perspectives illustrate the dichotomy that is Cowboy Steve K: half troubadour, half versifier, and half true. And that ain't half bad.
Rhode Island singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Fred Kendal Abong is mostly known as onetime bass player for both Throwing Muses and Belly. For the last two years, however, Fred has been busy writing and performing his own material. Moonman is a small sample of the more than one hundred songs written and recorded during this fertile period. Half-electric and half-acoustic, the songs on Moonman have drawn comparisons to The Replacements, Tom Waits, Meat Puppets, The Clash, Firehose, and Bob Dylan.
Rome, four guys are looking to restore some faith in the frustrating destiny of modern Pop. Armed with cheeky noises and corrupted guitars, Turnpike Glow rely on moral sanity and multi-layered cunning to reach all the different glances your soul desires. Draws from Doves, Flaming Lips, Pavement, Beta Band and Broken Social Scene. A rare collection of fresh melodies and lush soundscapes for independent film and celestial waltzes.
Rhode Island based musicians each contributed a song to raise money for the Providence Animal Rescue League. Two cds with 31 bands, almost two hours of music. Mastered by Scott Rancourt from Brickhaus Studios in Newport, RI. Jackets were hand-screened in the 75orless house with exclusive design by Ryan Jackson.
The Providence Animal Rescue League is a private organization serving Providence and the state of Rhode Island. Worcester, MA's own Killing Pablo bring their first official release, this 6 song e.p., to 75orLess Records... just over 30 minutes of feedback laden anarchistic art rock. Recorded with George Dussault at Galilee Studios, Pop Songs For Assholes mixes together a myriad of influences (Dinosaur Jr, Mogwai, Lightning Bolt, the MC5, Glenn Branca and everything inbetween) to create a style that is both a contemplative reverb-drenched drone and ear-bleeding sonic terrorism.
Providence RI's Six Star General follow up their February 2006 Zinger EP with this 11 track release recorded with George Dussault (Laurels, Von Ryans Express, The Golden Touch) at Galilee Studios. Recorded in six hours with no overdubs - 11 tracks in 22 minutes - equal parts punk, quasi-metal and distorted pop. If you're into Boyracer, Shellac, Husker Du, Supersuckers, or Karp, this is your latest fix.

Pixelated One & Zeros is the Staggering Statistics second release. The Staggering Statistics began as a three-piece rock band from Cincinnati, OH. Bassist John Curley was a founding member of the Afghan Whigs and owns Cincinnati's Ultrasuede recording studio. Austin Brown is a prolific songwriter and musician who played in dozens of bands from Houston to Seattle before arriving in Cincinnati and joining dozens more, many at the same time. Joe and Austin had worked together at Kaldi's on Main in the late 1990's. During that time, they composed and recorded music in Joe's downtown apartment.
The band were 2005's Best New Artist at the recent CEA (Cincinnati's Entertainments Awards).
Frontman Austin Brown's laconic voice and tales of the hard life hit even harder when paired with this Cincy trio's bluesy, sinuous raucous, marked by a rhythm section that could anchor a battleship. The melodic shagginess of early Pavement often comes to mind, yet SS possess a genuinely dark undercurrent that's entirely their own.
This is the soundtrack to bloody knuckles. This is indie-punk. These are the hearts and souls of four young men from New York. This is "A PASSING FEELING", or "How to Never Sleep Ever". A PASSING FEELING formed in May of 2005. One part the bare-bones youthfulness of early Guided By Voices and the Thermals, another the floor-punching intensity of their post-punk contemporaries, and half straight whiskey, A PASSING FEELING is the east coast's answer to whatever shit the west coast is talking. The gameplan? Put out records, hit the road, and stay hungry. The dress code for any A PASSING FEELING show? Simply this, as always: bring the phlegm, kill the lights and there will be blood, sweat and booze to go around.
